How much of your pay will you keep?
Answer one quick question. We'll take off Income Tax and Social Security (SSB), the two deductions on a Belize public-service payslip.

BZ$
The public service standard is 40.
You'd keep
BZ$0
Where your pay goes
This is an estimate. It leaves out allowances and voluntary deductions. Your payslip is the final word.
How the deductions work
- Income Tax
- No tax on the first BZ$29,000 a year. Above that, chargeable income is gross minus a BZ$20,000 deduction, taxed at 25% - with a tapering credit that phases out between BZ$29,000 and BZ$32,000, so there's no sudden jump right above the exemption.
- Social Security (SSB)
- Not a flat percentage - SSB uses 13 weekly wage bands, each with its own fixed contribution. The employee share works out to roughly 2-4.5% of insurable earnings depending on the band, and stops increasing once your weekly pay passes BZ$520 (about BZ$27,040 a year) - above that you pay the same flat amount as everyone else at or above the ceiling.
Social Security: SSB's official Contribution & Benefit Schedule (effective 4 April 2022, still current). Income Tax: the Income and Business Tax (Amendment) Act, 2024 (effective 1 Jan 2025), reconstructed from cross-checked secondary sources - the government's own hosted copy was unreachable when checked.
