Where your pay goes
This is an estimate for a Government Permanent Employee. It leaves out allowances and voluntary deductions. Your payslip is the final word.
How the deductions work
- NIS
- 9.95% of gross pay for Government Permanent Employees (National Insurance, Non-Contributory, Training Levy, Health Service Contribution and Resilience & Regeneration combined), up to an insurable-earnings ceiling of Bds$64,320 a year. Not tax-deductible.
- Income Tax
- No tax on the first Bds$25,000 a year (your personal allowance); 11.5% on the next Bds$50,000 of taxable income; 27.5% above that.
Income tax rates: Barbados Revenue Authority, Policy Note OGC No. 001/2026 (effective Income Year 2026). NIS rate and ceiling: National Insurance and Social Security Service (nis.gov.bb), Government Permanent Employee category. See every code's pay on the Barbados salary scales page.
